Ticks, crosses and how they render
Not every mark here behaves the same. โ and โ are neutral text glyphs that take on your font's colour, so they render black on white like ordinary letters. โ and โ (heavy check and cross mark) are true emoji, so most platforms draw them as green and red coloured images regardless of surrounding text. Gamers use โ and โ in Discord to tally who's confirmed for a raid. Rรฉsumรฉ writers add subtle โ bullets before skills. Because these are single characters, they survive copy-paste into plain-text fields, email subject lines, and username bios where formatting toolbars aren't available.
