Frequently Asked Questions
What does ⬆️ mean in a chat?
It usually points to a message directly above, meaning 'see this' or 'I agree with that.' It can also signal rising values, growth, or 'scroll up' depending on the surrounding context.
Does ⬆️ mean upvote or upload?
It can mean either. On forums it often signals an upvote or agreement; in apps it can indicate uploading or moving something up. Context and platform decide which meaning applies.
Why does ⬆️ sometimes show as a plain black arrow?
It has both a text and an emoji presentation. Adding the variation selector forces the colorful button version; without it, some systems display a simpler monochrome arrow instead.
