About victory hand Emoji
Usage: People flash ✌️ to say peace out, sign off casually, celebrate a win, or strike a pose in photos, where it's especially popular across East Asia. It softens a goodbye, adds a laid-back vibe, and pairs well with sunny, easygoing captions and travel snaps. In Japan and Korea it is the default pose for photographs, which colours how it is read.
✌️ traces back to Unicode 1.1 in 1993 as one of the earliest standardized hand gestures. Fun fact: Churchill used the V-sign for victory in World War II, but with palm facing inward it's actually an insult in Britain, Ireland, and Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does ✌️ mean peace or victory?
Both. ✌️ started as a WWII victory sign and was later adopted by the peace movement in the 1960s. Context decides which reading applies, and it can also just mean 'two' or a friendly goodbye.
Is ✌️ ever considered rude?
It can be. In the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, the same V-gesture with the palm facing inward is an offensive insult. Palm outward, as ✌️ is typically drawn, is friendly and positive.
Why is ✌️ so popular in photos?
The V-sign became a photo staple, especially across East Asia, as a cheerful, camera-ready pose. Flashing ✌️ signals fun and friendliness, which is why it appears in so many selfies and group shots.
