The essential Halloween emojis
The jack-o-lantern 🎃 is the single most recognisable Halloween emoji and works as a catch-all season marker. The ghost 👻 adds a cute-spooky tone, the skull 💀 brings edge (and pulls double duty as "dead from laughing" slang), and the spider 🕷️ plus web 🕸️ set a haunted scene. Round out a costume post with the vampire 🧛, zombie 🧟 or bat 🦇 to match your look.
Using Halloween emojis in posts
Open a caption with 🎃 so the theme is instant, then close with 👻 or 💀 for tone, playful or dark. For party invites, lead with 🎃🦇 and add the date. Trick-or-treat plans read well with 🍬 and 🍫. A row of 💀💀💀 in comments reads as "hilarious," while 🎃👻🕷️ together signals a full Halloween mood in group chats and stories.
The costume glyphs Unicode never shipped
Halloween is a season with gaps. There is no witch hat on its own, no candy corn and no haunted house, so people improvise: 🎃 carries most of the theme, 🧙 supplies the witch, 🍬 and 🍫 cover trick-or-treating, and 🕯️ fills in for anything candlelit. The gravestone was a gap until 2020, when Emoji 13.0 added 🪦 headstone, so phones that have skipped years of updates still show it as a blank box. 🕷️ and 🕸️ are separate glyphs and look best used together. The vampire, zombie and genie all have gendered variants built from ZWJ sequences, so 🧛♀️ is a longer sequence than 🧛 and a few older apps still show it as two characters.
