Diwali Wishes to Copy and Paste

Sunday 8 November 2026 ยท 26 days away

Original Diwali messages you can send as they are. Put a name in the box at the top and it drops into every greeting below before you copy. Written here rather than collected, so you are not forwarding what everyone else is.

Who is it for?

Type a name once and every message below fills it in before you copy. Nothing is sent anywhere.

For family and people you are close to

Warm, specific, and written to be sent on their own.

For friends

Lighter in tone, still sincere.

For colleagues and clients

No decoration, safe for any work channel.

Short enough for a status or a caption

Fits a WhatsApp about, a Discord status or an Instagram bio.

One for each of the five days

Diwali 2026 runs 6 to 10 November. Send the day, not just the week.

Decorated headers for cards and stories

Multi line blocks. These keep their shape in a monospace surface such as Discord, Notion or a lock screen widget, and lose it in a proportional one such as WhatsApp or an Instagram bio.

Diwali emoji to pair with them

Diwali messaging has a problem everybody recognises: the same block of text arrives from six people, usually as a low resolution image with the name of whoever made it in the corner. The messages below are plain text and original, which fixes both halves of that. They are grouped by who you are writing to, because the note you send your mother is not the one you send a client, and Diwali spans both. The festival runs five days in 2026, from Dhanteras on 6 November to Bhai Dooj on 10 November, with the main Lakshmi Puja night on Sunday 8 November, so there is also a set written per day for anyone who sends more than once.

Why a typed message beats a forwarded image

The default Diwali greeting is a JPEG with a greeting printed over a rangoli, forwarded until it is unreadable. Every forward re compresses it, so the version that reaches you is noticeably worse than the one that was sent. It also cannot be edited, which is why so many arrive with someone else's watermark still on them. Plain text has none of those failure modes. It arrives identical however many times it is passed on, it can have a name put into it, and it can be replied to as words rather than as a picture. On a slow connection it costs effectively nothing to send, which still matters a great deal during the busiest messaging week of the Indian calendar.

The five days are not interchangeable

Dhanteras on 6 November 2026 is associated with prosperity and with buying metal. Naraka Chaturdashi follows on the 7th. Lakshmi Puja, the night most people mean by Diwali, falls on Sunday 8 November. Govardhan Puja is the 9th, and Bhai Dooj on the 10th honours the bond between siblings. Sending one generic line across all five flattens a festival that has a clear shape, and anyone observing it properly will notice. If you only send once, the 8th is the right night. If you send more, the per day set above is written to match what each day actually marks.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Diwali 2026?

The main Diwali night, Lakshmi Puja, falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. The full festival runs five days, from Dhanteras on Friday 6 November through to Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November.

How does the name box work?

Enter a name in the field above the greetings and each one addresses it automatically when you copy. The substitution happens on your device, nothing leaves the browser, and the greetings read perfectly well if you skip the field.

Where did these Diwali greetings come from?

They were composed for this site. Festival greetings passed around online get reworded and re credited until the trail disappears, and sending a fresh one means the person opening it has probably not read it already that morning.

What is appropriate to send a colleague for Diwali?

Pick from the work set. Those greetings are stripped of decoration and assume no personal closeness, which is what keeps them comfortable in a professional channel where a family style message would feel out of place.

Do the framed headers survive WhatsApp?

The one line statuses do. The taller bordered blocks do not, since WhatsApp sets text proportionally and the box drawing characters that form those frames only align under a monospaced face.
