What Does the ๐ face with tears of joy Emoji Mean?
Laughter hard enough to produce tears, drawn as a wide open smile with a stream running from each eye. For most of the 2010s this was the default way to say something was funny, across every platform and language. It also softens a message, taking the sting out of an insult or an admission of failure. Younger users now read it as a parent's emoji.

Unicode 6.0 carried it in during the 2010 release. Five years later Oxford Dictionaries named it the 2015 Word of the Year, the first time a pictograph took that title, which caused a fair amount of newspaper hand-wringing at the time.

Is ๐ really the most used emoji?
It has topped most published usage rankings for years and stays near the summit, though ๐ญ and โค๏ธ have closed the gap. Figures vary by platform and by who is doing the counting.

๐คฃ is rolling on the floor laughing, a step louder and more physical. ๐ stays seated. Anyone signalling total loss of composure usually reaches for the tilted face instead of this one.
