What Does the ๐ kissing face Emoji Mean?
Neutral eyes, two small dots, and lips pushed into a round pucker with no blush and no heart. That restraint is the whole point. Of the four kissing faces this is the mildest, closer to a whistle or a casual air kiss than to romance. People use it for playful affection, mock innocence, or the small puckered face you make when pretending not to care.

About kissing face Emoji
Usage: It lands softer than ๐, so friends send it where a heart kiss would be too much. Teenagers pair it with a smug remark to take the edge off. It doubles as a whistling face in text, standing in for walking away innocently after causing trouble. On TikTok comments it often signals mock flirtation between people who are clearly joking.
A 2012 addition under Unicode 6.1, it came about fifteen months after the big 6.0 emoji block, in a top-up release of faces the original set had missed. Renderings differ on how wide the eyes stay open, which quietly changes how sincere the kiss looks.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does ๐ differ from ๐?
๐ throws a heart and plainly means affection. ๐ only purses its lips, with neutral eyes and nothing flying out, so it reads as a light peck, a whistle, or playful innocence rather than romance.
Can ๐ be used as a whistling face?
Yes, and that is one of its most common jobs. Unicode has no dedicated whistling face, so the pursed lips here fill the gap, usually meaning someone is strolling away innocently from trouble they caused.
Is ๐ flirty?
Mildly, at most. It sits far below ๐ and ๐ on the romance scale, which is exactly why friends use it. Sent after a teasing remark it usually means affection with a wink rather than real interest.
