What Does the ๐ฟ angry face with horns Emoji Mean?
A purple face with a deep frown, angled angry eyebrows and two small horns. It is the hostile counterpart to the smiling devil face, and the difference between the two matters: that one is mischievous, this one is genuinely cross. The anger has a theatrical edge to it, performed for an audience rather than silently felt.

About angry face with horns Emoji
Usage: It marks frustration that is being played up for the audience, mock villainy, and threats that everyone understands are empty. Gaming chat uses it before a rematch. It is noticeably less common than the smiling version, because the sentiment it carries is harder to send without sounding like you mean it.
It crossed over in 2010 from the Japanese carriers, where it stood for an oni. That folklore figure is closer to an ogre than to anything Western audiences would call a devil. The horns survived the translation but the specific mythology did not.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between ๐ฟ and ๐?
Mood. The smiling version is mischievous and often flirtatious, while this one is openly angry. They share the horns and the purple colouring but are used in quite different situations.
Why is the angry devil face purple?
It comes from Japanese depictions of the oni, a folklore figure often drawn in purple or red. The colour carried into the emoji even though the original mythological reference did not.
Is ๐ฟ taken seriously?
Usually not. It reads as theatrical anger rather than real hostility, which is why it works for mock threats and rematches but sits awkwardly in a genuine argument.
