What Does the 🤓 nerd face Emoji Mean?
A smiling face in thick-rimmed glasses with prominent front teeth. Its history is contested: the design leans on a stereotype old enough to be tired, and several vendors have softened the teeth or dropped them entirely in response to criticism that the original artwork mocked a group of people rather than simply describing them. Where it lands now depends almost entirely on who sends it.

About nerd face Emoji
Usage: Self-identification is the kindest use, applied by people about their own enthusiasms. The pointed use is to mark someone as pedantic, often attached to a correction nobody asked for, and it has become the standard accompaniment to a quoted technicality. Those two registers sit uneasily together and context decides which lands.
Encoded in Unicode 8.0 in 2015. Apple notably redesigned it, removing the buck teeth, after sustained criticism that the original drawing was closer to caricature than to a neutral depiction of someone wearing glasses.
