What Does the ๐ winking face with tongue Emoji Mean?
A yellow face with one eye closed, tongue stuck out and a wide open smile. The wink is what separates it from the other tongue faces: it signals that whatever was just said is a joke and that both parties are in on it. The overall register is silly rather than flirtatious, closer to pulling a face at someone than to teasing them.

About winking face with tongue Emoji
Usage: It follows a deliberate bad pun, a harmless wind-up or a confession of something slightly ridiculous. Older users deploy it far more freely than younger ones, who tend to read a wink as dated, so it has become a mild generational marker in group chats that span a few decades.
Japan's mobile carriers had it first, and 2010 carried it worldwide. Its meaning has drifted less than most faces of that era, though it has lost ground to the upside-down face and the skull as the preferred way to mark a joke online.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between ๐ and ๐?
The eyes. This one winks with a single closed eye, while the other squeezes both shut. The wink implies a shared joke, the squeeze implies silliness or a reaction to something unpleasant.
Is the winking tongue emoji flirty?
Rarely. The tongue pushes it toward goofy rather than suggestive. The plain winking face carries far more flirtatious weight without the tongue to undercut it.
Why do younger users avoid this emoji?
The wink reads as dated to many people under thirty, who mark jokes with the skull or the upside-down face instead. It still reads as perfectly friendly to older users.
