smiling face with tearEmoji
What Does the 🥲 smiling face with tear Emoji Mean?
A yellow face wearing a small closed smile with a single tear sitting below one eye. Nothing about it is straightforwardly happy or sad. It captures the specific state of smiling through something difficult: relief arriving after strain, pride mixed with loss, or putting on a brave face while the situation is plainly not fine. The restraint in the expression is what makes it land.

About smiling face with tear Emoji
Usage: It suits goodbyes, last days, graduations and anything bittersweet, and it is also used self-deprecatingly to admit that a joke is covering real frustration. In casual chat it has become shorthand for a complaint delivered with a smile, which is a lighter register than the face it most resembles.
Added in Unicode 13.0 in 2020. It arrived alongside a small set of faces designed to cover emotional states the existing keyboard handled poorly, and this one filled an obvious gap between the crying faces and the plainly cheerful ones.

What does 🥲 actually mean?
Smiling through something hard. It covers relief after strain, pride mixed with sadness, and the common case of making a joke about a situation that is genuinely annoying.
What is the difference between 🥲 and 😢?
The crying face is simply sad. The smiling face with tear keeps the smile, which signals that the sender is holding it together or finding something good in a difficult moment.
Can I use 🥲 for happy news?
Yes, and it is common for exactly that. Graduations, births and reunions all attract it, because the tear reads as being moved rather than being upset.
