All Emojis: The Complete List
Unicode has approved 3,963 emoji as of Emoji 18.0, and every one of them is on this page. That figure counts 2,040 skin tone versions separately, so if you count each emoji once, the list is 1,923. They are grouped the way your phone keyboard groups them. Tap any emoji to copy it.
Counted from Unicode's own emoji-test.txt for Emoji 18.0, dated 2026-04-30. Skin tone versions have a page of their own so this list stays readable. See all 2,040 skin tone versions

Unicode labels every emoji with the Emoji version that added it. Here is the whole list split that way. Some years added very few new designs but hundreds of skin tone versions of existing ones, which is why the two columns tell such different stories.

Where the 100,000 emoji claims come from
Search for a list of every emoji and you will find pages promising 100,000 or more. No honest count gets close. The official list is 3,963. Add the 1,029 older spellings that leave out an invisible style character, plus the 243 bare versions, and you reach 5,235, still nowhere near six figures. The big numbers come from counting other things as emoji: Emoji Kitchen stickers (Google's mashups run past 147,000 pairings), kaomoji like (โโฟโ), text symbols, and animated stickers. Those are all worth having, and this site has sections for each of them, but you cannot type any of them from an emoji keyboard.
What counts as one emoji
Unicode counts what it calls fully-qualified sequences, and some of them are made of several characters. ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง is five code points glued together with invisible joiners, yet it is one emoji, drawn as one picture. ๐ and ๐๐ฝ are two separate entries, because the second carries a skin tone modifier. โค๏ธ and a bare โค without its style selector are the same emoji written two ways, and only the first is counted. The 9 building blocks, such as the five skin tone swatches and the four hair styles, are not counted at all, since you rarely send them on their own.
The releases that added the most, and the least
The oldest layer is still the biggest. 719 of the 1,923 distinct emoji date from 2010, when Unicode 6.0 absorbed the sets Japanese phone carriers had been using since the late 1990s. That is roughly 37% of the list. The busiest single release was Emoji 4.0 in 2016, which added 598 entries, yet only 113 of them were new designs: the rest were gender and skin tone versions of jobs and sports. Recent releases have been small. Emoji 16.0 added 8 new designs, and Emoji 17.0 added 8, with another 155 skin tone versions, most of them for the three wrestling emoji and the three pairs in bunny ears. Emoji 18.0, approved in September 2026, brings 9, including a pickle, a lighthouse and a meteor.
Why a few of these show up as boxes
This page sends every emoji as plain text, so your own device draws them. If your phone or computer is older than an emoji, you will see an empty box or a question mark instead. Nothing on this page is broken when that happens; your font simply has no picture for that code yet. The newest 9 from Emoji 18.0 will look like boxes almost everywhere until phone makers ship them, which for iPhone usually means the spring update after approval. Our emoji support checker tests which versions your current device can draw.
Questions about the full emoji list
How many emojis are there in 2026?
3,963, counting every skin tone version as its own emoji, as of Emoji 18.0 (approved September 2026). Without the skin tone versions the count is 1,923. Most of last year's growth was skin tone versions rather than new designs.
Which group has the most emoji?
People & Body, with 390 distinct emoji. It also holds every one of the 2,040 skin tone versions, because only people and hands can take a skin tone. Flags come second with 270, almost all of them country flags.
Why do some emojis on this list look different on my phone?
Unicode only defines what each emoji is, not how it looks. Apple, Google, Samsung, Microsoft and the apps that draw their own (WhatsApp, Discord, X) each make their own artwork, so ๐ or ๐ฅฒ can look noticeably different from one device to the next while still being the same character.
Are Emoji Kitchen stickers or kaomoji included?
No. Emoji Kitchen combinations are images Google generates from two emoji, and kaomoji like สโขแดฅโขส are built from ordinary text characters. Neither is a Unicode emoji, so neither is in the 3,963. Both have their own sections on this site.
How do I copy an emoji from this page?
Tap or click it. The emoji goes to your clipboard and a small note confirms it. Then paste it anywhere you can type. Use the filter box to find one quickly: type a word like guitar or a year like 2025.
